About Swami Vivekananda Swami Vivekananda was an Indian monk, Hindu spiritual teacher, and the chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of Indian spiritual traditions to the Western world and is considered to be one of the most influential figures in modern Hinduism.
